In order to raise awareness of the dangers of landmines, leftover since the Cambodian conflict, to the villagers living along Thai-Cambodian borders in Sakaew province, Mine Risk Education (MRE) programme funded by Caritas Germany is still ongoing.

Landmine Aawareness Trainers are from Humanitarian Mine Action Unit (HMAU),
COERR Aranyaprathet and COERR Surin team staff

 

Knowledge of Landmine Danger

 

Landmines are displayed for participants to recognize and avoid touching or stepping on them

 

Participants are border communities, men and women especially community leaders,
public health volunteers and villagers at risk

 

Lecture on Rights of the Disabled
given by Provincial Social Development and Human Security Officer

 

First-aid demonstration for the injured by Sakaew Province’sTapraya Hospital staff

 

First-Aid drills and practice for landmine survivors and other injured are necessary.
Should any incidents occur the skills can be used.
